Marilla Garcia – LCSW
Marilla Garcia is a native of southern Utah and has a blended family with five children. She enjoys the outdoors and being active with her family. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, and began her work in the mental health field directly out of high school, providing respite care for youth. She worked at Southwest Behavioral Center in southern Utah during her undergraduate schooling until she became a mother and was able to stay at home for several years and focus on family. She completed her Master’s of Social Work degree at BYU in 2010 and, while there, helped youth and adults struggling with substance abuse issues. She worked at a drug rehabilitation center in Provo, Utah, before returning to St. George. She has worked with teenagers and adults in private practice and has experience in residential treatment. Marilla became a certified officer and primary counselor for four years at the probation and parole office. After recognizing this was wearing on her, Marilla decided to focus more on the body and trauma work and became a yoga instructor. She also continues with private practice and relationship counseling. Marilla has experience with crisis work in the Emergency Room at Intermountain Hospital, which she left to pursue further specialization in pain and substance abuse management at Desert Pain Specialists.
